Kelly completed a Bachelor of Physical Education, Exercise Physiology, Honors degree at the University of Calgary. Through working at various fitness centres in Calgary she became aware of the importance of nutrition in complementing exercise programs and overall healthy lifestyle changes. She went on to complete her Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Food Science at the University of Alberta, along with completing the coordinated internship program to become a Registered Dietitian.

Through exploring an individual's lifestyle, health and medical history, food preferences, and activity schedule, Kelly creates a nutrition experience that is unique for each client. Kelly believes in creating sustainable health for individuals and gets at the root of the problem that may be preventing an individual from moving forward.

Kelly's passions include finding off-the-beaten-track dining experiences, wine, music and the outdoors; specifically rock climbing. Kelly continues to be an active presence in the local climbing community, instructing and facilitating training for the sport. Her addiction to climbing and outdoor activity keeps Kelly juggling her time between the mountains and the hustle and bustle of city life.

Ask the Dietitian:

Protein Supplements

Q. "I know that protein is important when trying to build muscle, so I use a protein powder to make sure I get enough. What are your thoughts on protein powders?"

Ask the Dietitian:

Frozen vs. Fresh

Q. "I am struggling to get the recommended amounts of fruits and vegetable servings in a day. Some weeks when I am really motivated I go and buy produce for the week and later end up with a crisper full of rotting, slimy vegetables. Is frozen produce a healthy option? I have heard that there are fewer nutrients than fresh?"

Ask the Dietitian:

Vitamin D

Q. "I've been hearing a lot about Vitamin D lately, and how important it is. What's so special about Vitamin D, and should I be taking supplements?"
