Canadian Age Group Championships

July 25 – 30, 2012  

Talisman Centre is proud to be selected as the host facility for this prominent swiming event. The roar of excitement with our members and employees is building as we gear up to host thousands of athletes, officials, coaches and volunteers!

Event Info

The 2012 Canadian Age Group Championships is designed to give swimmers ages 12 through 18 the opportunity to race against the best athletes in their age group in Canada. The long course meet is held every summer in various cities across Canada. This is the second time Talisman Centre has been host facility. 

This is the BIGGEST event Talisman Centre will host this year with an estimated 1400 athletes participating in all swim disciplines including butterfly, breaststroke, freestyle, back stroke, relays and  5km and 7.5km open water swims (held at Arbour Lake).

How does this event affect Members?

We are excited and proud to host such a high profile national competition, we appreciate your support as we strive to create the best event with the least amount of impact to our members and customers. Busiest Times

The facility will be busiest from 7:00am – 1:30pm and 4:00pm – 8:30pm. 
Please refer to the below Training and Competition schedules for more details. 

Aquatic Areas

The Steam Room, Hot Tubs, and Teach Pool will be closed to public and members during the event competition times.

Child Care

Our Child Care Centre will remain open with it's regular hours throughout the competition. Except the Tuesday and Thursday evening hours will not be open and therefore not available for pre-booking. 

Group Fitness Classes

  • All Group Fitness classes normally held in Gym 1 will be moved to Gyms 4/5 for the during the training and competition dates (July 21st – 30th).
  • Deep Water Fitness will be cancelled. 

Public Gym/Swim Times 


Public Swim will NOT be available during the following times to:

Mon, July 23rd – 4:00pm to 8:00pm

Tues, July 24th – 8:00am to 8:00pm

Wed, July 25th to Fri, July 27th – 6:30am-9:00pm

Sat/Sun, July28/29 – NO PUBLIC SWIM

  • We will have RESERVED PARKING for members, customers and visitors of Cardiac Wellness and LifeMark Physiotherapy at the North end of the parking lot.
  • Customers and members can also park at the South end of parking along with Event Parking on a first come, first serve basis.
  • The South Entrance drop-off loop will be closed. Customers requiring pick-up or drop offs are encouraged to use the North Entrance.

Athlete Registration

Monday, July 23rd

Facility Access

All athletes must enter the facility through the Customer Service back gates located in the middle of the concourse facing the competition pool.


  • North end of the parking lot will be RESERVED for members, customers and visitors of Cardiac Wellness and LifeMark Physiotherapy.
  • South end of parking lot will be open for Event Parking as well as customer parking on a first come, first serve basis.
  • Parking is available at Elbow River Casino (with valid parking pass) for Officials, Volunteers and Meet Managers.
  • Parking attendants will be on-site.
  • RV's and motorhomes will not be permitted in the parking lot.
  • Overnight parking will not be permitted.
  • Additional pay parking is available on the Calgary Stampede grounds and at Holy Cross.

Parent/Spectator Info

We encourage parents, friends and family to come watch and cheer on the athletes! There will be a spectator fee for all the finals, this cost is still to be determined. Aside from the limited Training Pool deck seats, parents or family members are NOT permitted on the pool deck. Spectators will not have access to the Activity level of the facility. 

Viewing Areas

Competition Pool: 

  • Parents can view from the spectator bleachers overlooking the competition pool. They seat approximately 500 people.

Training Pool:

  • The mezzanine will be closed to spectators as we will have cameras videoing the swimmers and providing live video stream to two locations:
    • Parent & Spectator tent located outside of the training pool on the cement pad at the east side (parents can also look in the windows here)
    • Live feed to the Foundation Lounge
  • There will be LIMITED seating on the pool deck for parents only. 

Volunteer/Information Booths

Please watch for our white cowboy hat volunteers. These volunteers will provide visitors, athletes and coaches with information about the event in general, parking, local area attractions and other inquires you may have about the facility, event or city.
