Before you decide to try Olympic Lifting you’ll need to create a base of fundamental movements that will ensure proper technique and sequencing to provide movement competency. These exercises engage nearly all of your muscles that help to increase power and overall strength development. 20 spots available.  Debunking Nutrition Myths from the 90s

Jessi  Shepherd, our Holistic Nutritionist, will be in the Member Lounge to answer your questions. Her focus will be on de-bunking some of the most common nutrition myths that started in the 90s.This decade was the birthing grounds for all things fat-free, the counting of calories and the start of the cholesterol fearing where we became afraid of consuming foods like eggs and red meat.

Jessi will dive into some of the myths that have played a role in shaping the way we eat today, stimulating the production and development of numerous products on the market that can cause a great deal of confusion for the average consumer. Jessi has prepared to deliver a bit of food for thought and is excited to meet members and discuss how Nutrition plays such a large role in our day to day performance. Train. Compete. Play. . . Eat!!!

Congratulations to IMPACT magazine for 25 years! They will be celebrating their milestone in our Member Lounge with giveaways including 300 Lolë headbands! IMPACT magazine will be joined by their partners Jugo Juice, Good Earth Café, and Made Foods with more goodies and giveaways!!

PlayCity will be on site to discuss their APP that connects people through sport. It can be hard to find people who like the same sports you do, and are in the same skill range.  Double Knock Out Bump Game

Knockout or Bump is a shooting game of elimination that can be played by any number of players. Players line up normally at the free throw line or top of the circle with the first two players in line with balls. The object is for the player to make a basket prior to the player next in line behind them. 30 spots available. Sign up at the Fitness Centre Desk, on the APP or through the Active Member Rewards Portal. Each participant will have 45 seconds to get as many hoops as possible. The top 4 will continue on to semi-finals. The top 2 will move on to the finals.

 Kings Court Badminton Tournament

In this game there are 4 courts ranked from 1 – 4, where 1 is the Kings Court, the highest ranking. The goal of this game is to win your way to into the Kings Court.  Upon losing a match or round, you start back at the beginning and work your way back up. 30 spots available.  Video Foot Strike Analysis from   

The Tech Shop’s Video Foot Strike Analysis will make sure you get fitted into the appropriate shoe for your foot type, stride and activity.  Using slow motion video capture and specialized software, the team from the Tech Shop will be able to analyze your rate of pronation, ground contact time and other key factors to optimize shoe related performance.

Join Ken Kotyk, former Olympian, as he demonstrates and educates on Plyometric training. Plyometric It is an explosive way to get stronger and fitter while building endurance and speed. However, many programs don’t include plyometric training as part of their regimens. This class will focus on the fundamental movements and biomechanics of sprinting and jumping.
