We invite you to join us on Monday, February 20th, 2012 for a most rewarding and memorable event!

Always wanted to try a Get RIPPED! class and turn your body into a veritable carb-burning, fat-melting machine? Now is your chance to check them out while making a big difference in our community.

Talisman Centre and Jari Love, international fitness guru and creator of 'Get RIPPED!', are teaming up with Inn from the Cold for a 2nd RIPPED-A-THON Fundraising Event. This event is open to all Talisman Centre members and the public and perfect for all fitness levels. All proceeds (registration fees, pledges and food donations) will be provided to Inn From the Cold to help homeless families in Calgary.

Get Ready to Get RIPPED! and Pay It Forward

How To Register

Registration opens January 23, 2012. 

Current members of Talisman Centre can register online, over the phone at 403.233.8393 or in person at the Customer Service Desk. Non-members can register by phone 403.233.8393 or in person at the Customer Service Desk. 

NOTE: On-line Registrations will not be accepted after 12 noon on Friday, February 17th, 2012 or when space becomes full. After 12 noon on Friday, those still wishing to register will need to do so by phone or in person.

Be sure to select which class(es) you want to participate in when registering:

Class 1: RIPPED Buffet 10:00am – 11:00am

Class 2: RIPPED Buffet 11:15am – 12:15pm 

Class 3: RIPPED Buffet 12:30pm – 1:30pm 

COST: $10 per class

You can participate in one class or all three! It's totally up to you. Each hour class provides you with a full Get RIPPED! experience taught by a different instructor and with a variety of RIPPED! exercises. Plus, bring in non-perishable food items to use as your weights and then donate them after your class. All proceeds and food donations go directly to Inn from the Cold.  

Early Bird Registration

The first 100 registrants to register in ALL 3 CLASSES before February 5th, 2012 will receive a FREE RIPPED-A-THON t-shirt with their entry. Shirts can be picked up at the event during check-in.

Random draw awarded to one participant in each of the three classes.

Collecting Pledges for Inn from the Cold

Give back more by collecting pledges! Download pledge forms or pick them up at the Customer Service Desk. All pledges are due when you check-in at the event.

You can also donate online! Share with your friends and family so they can pledge you:

  • Food items (2-kg container of peanut butter/12-pack of Kraft Dinner)
  • 2 adult transit tickets (back and forth to work for one day)
  • Hygiene products for a teenage girl staying at the shelter

  • Book of 10 youth transit tickets
  • Phone card (to stay in touch with loved ones)
  • Case of diapers for one family with an infant

  • A lunchroom supervision fee ($32/child per month)
  • A gift card for groceries
  • An annual senior's transit pass
  • Child's birthday party (cake, decorations, gift)

  • Monthly youth transit pass
  • Identification for our new Canadians
  • Diapers for the Emergency Family Shelter babies for one week
  • One month of fuel for the Inn van so our children can go to school
  • One support worker to oversee Lullaby Time Program for one week

  • Average monthly heating cost at the Emergency Family Shelter
  • Family rent subsidy for two-bedroom apartment


About Inn from the Cold

Established by a network of faith-based volunteers in 1997, Inn from the Cold is Calgary's original and largest family emergency shelter and response network. Providing the critical first step in ending homelessness for families and others in need, the Inn offers emergency shelter, onsite programming, case management outreach services, prevention initiatives and a community-based emergency shelter and resource centre. In 2010, Inn from the Cold retained housing for 160 at-risk families and served an additional 217 families, including 319 children. Inn from the Cold is a recommended charity by Charity Intelligence, recognized in 2009 and 2010 for the stewardship and maximization of the community's investment of resources.

Child Care

Our Child Care Centre will be open from 9:30am–2:00pm for RIPPED-A-THON participants. Only $5 for up to 4 hours. Book your spot by February 5th, 2012 at 6:00pm by calling 403.355.1289

Child Care is available for children ages 3 months to 9 years. Normal Talisman Centre Child Care Centre procedures and policies will apply. There is limited space available so book early, we cannot guarantee space to walk-ins.

FREE Concert for all Participants

Inn from the Cold and Encana proudly present 'Playing for Change' – a music tribute to kick off the Inn's 15-year anniversary and raise awareness about family homelessness. 'Playing for Change' is an internationally acclaimed group of talented musicians who are former and current street buskers! This world-renowned multimedia movement joins people together to bring peace through the gift of music. Be part of the phenomenon and get INN to ending homelessness!
