Our History

Talisman Centre has been one of Calgary's most iconic and beloved facilities for over 27 years. In 1983, Calgary readied to host the third Western Canada Summer Games, and needed a facility that could accommodate the many athletes coming to compete. The City recognized the opportunity to also have the project provide a sport centre for Calgarians well beyond the Summer Games. The facility that would one day become Talisman Centre was built.

Since then, we’ve had over 200 Olympic and World Champion athletes call Talisman Centre home, including Gold Medalists Mark Tewksbury, Duff Gibson and 2008 Beijing Gold Medalist Carol Huynh.
